He married Marie Eugenie Verges (b. 29 Sep 1882, Hacienda Bordelesa, Maunabo, Puerto Rico) 1916. She is the daughter of Eugene Marcelin Verges [b. PR] and Caroline A. [Riefkohl] Verges, b. WI. George was in the sugar business and was an exporter of pineapples when they lived in Manati, Puerto Rico. The family then established a home in Brookline, MA, followed by Miami, FL.

Children: Verges^10 Van Wickle, b. 31 May 1917, Brookline, MA. Verges graduated from Rollins College. He lived with his widowed mother in her retirement in Mt Dora, FL until her death in 1974. In 1977 he married Carolyn Gwaltney of Hot Springs, Arkansas on 18 June 1977. Verges had no children. He died in Boston, MA in 1987 and is buried with his parents in the Van Wickle family plot at Newton Cemetery.
